Course Information


This class is designed with hunters and trappers in mind, to teach you the skills to track and trail animals, as well as discover which animals are in an area. This is a great class for anyone interested in seeing the great outdoors through the eyes of a real tracker. During our Animal Tracking course, you will learn:

  • Clear foot print identification
  • Animal scat identification
  • Animal signs and trails
  • The behavior of a variety of wild animal species
  • How to make plaster casts of tracks
  • How to draw and journal your tracks

This class includes a copy of our own manual on animal tracking written by our friend Hue Hueston.

This class will run from 9 am - 4 pm.

Tracking will be held on December 6th, 2019 near Stafford, VA - this date is part of our Fieldcraft Friday series, and it has a discounted class tuition of $97

Course Location: Near Stafford, Va. Detailed directions are emailed upon enrollment.

Required Equipment: Bag lunch and drinks for yourself, appropriate clothing and wet weather gear for the expected weather, a pocket knife (any kind) and a pen to take notes.

Recommended Equipment: Some seating is available at camp, but please bring a camp chair if you have one.
