Sustainable Gardening
It's been a few years, but we feel this is the perfect time to bring you an updated version of our Gardening class. Sustainable gardening is a heritage skill that has existed for millennia, and with the cost of groceries today, now's your chance to learn how to grow food for a fraction of the store cost.The subjects of this class include:
- Garden site selection
- Deep soil preparation
- Growing from seeds and plant cuttings
- High calorie crops
- Pest prevention and much more!
2024 dates are:
Friday, May 10th 9 am to 4 pm
Sunday, June 2nd 9 am to 4 pm
Monday, October 7th 9 am to 4 pm (this date is the first day of our 5-day Homesteader Week program)
Course Location: Near Stafford, Va. Detailed directions are emailed upon enrollment.
Required Equipment: Bag lunch and drinks for yourself, appropriate clothing and wet weather gear for the expected weather, and a pen to take notes. Please bring leather work gloves, sunscreen and bug repellent.
Recommended Equipment: Some seating is available at camp, but please bring a camp chair if you have one.
