You can be afraid - or you can be ready!

It’s true that every person has the instincts for survival - but it’s also true that when things get tough, your instincts just aren’t enough. You’ll need skills, knowledge and above all – you’ll need experience – to back up your instincts.

Whether you are stuck in the wild or caught in a disaster, the only things that are guaranteed to be with you are your skills and experience.

Once you’ve gained the wilderness and disaster survival skills that we have to teach, this survival skill set will always be with you - wherever you go.

Don't you want to own the skills to truly and confidently survive - anywhere - anytime?

Where should you get these skills?

Don't let the name "Advanced Survival" scare you. No one needs to be an expert to join us, and these classes aren’t all doom and gloom. Yes, the future is uncertain – but as we go through each subject, you’ll feel more confident and more in control of your own survival. We’ll even make your survival class into a fun and challenging adventure!

For us - survival is not a fad or a scheme. School founder Tim MacWelch has been the most trusted source for survival training in the Mid-Atlantic since he opened his business in 1997. When Outdoor Life Magazine wanted to publish a series of survival manuals, they came to MacWelch (and he delivered multiple New York Times Best Selling titles). When the United States Army wanted survival training for soldiers in Virginia, they came to MacWelch. And if you’re even considering these kinds of skills, you’ve found the perfect place to get them.

Advanced Survival Training has a course for every wilderness skill that you would need - not only to come home safely, but also to make the wilderness a second home. Advanced Survival Training also provides an array of urban survival and food gathering classes, to provide you with greater security during disasters and in uncertain times.
