Half-Day Classes
Half-Day Classes
Short on time or money? Just looking to test the waters?
Our new Half-Day Class options will give you a great opportunity to sample something new!
We have three hour and four hour blocks for 2025. Some of these are stand alone classes and some of these are a segment of a longer class.
Intro to Wild Edibles
Join us for the first 3 hours of one of our Wild Edible Plant class! You’ll learn foraging guidelines, the basics of plant anatomy and identify several wild edible plant species that you’ll find growing throughout the region. Think of this as a “taste test” on foraging!
At the end of the 3 hour block, you’ll have the option to stay for the rest of the class by just paying the difference in tuition.
9 am to 12 noon - $60 April 12, 2025
Axecraft
Axes are ancient tools that are often misunderstood and misused in modern times. This half-day class will show you the best ways to safely use an ax, techniques for splitting wood, how to sharpen the bit, how to replace a handle and how to choose the correct ax for your task. We’ll even fell a tree with an ax!
9 am to 12 noon - $60 May 18, 2025
Ropecraft
Join us for all things CORDAGE! This 4 hour workshop will cover more than a dozen knots and hitches, along with lashings, rope care and choosing the right rope for the job. Learn how the sheet bend can tie almost anything and why the clove hitch is a terrible choice for winter. There’s a lot more to knot tying than just slapping on a “hope” knot and hoping it holds.
